Graduate Technical Intern – Strategic Program Planning

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with other PGE departments as necessary to utilize Excel, Python and/or SQL to retrieve, clean, process and finally automate data pipelines to create datasets that match formats specified in established data dictionaries. These datasets will be ingested in newly established software and would be important for strategy and planning analyses related to DERs.
- Performs extensive testing of potential data analysis processes, evaluates performance quantitatively, and documents results.
- Recommends improvements to analytical/evaluation approaches to better capture available datasets or any other external datasets that may not have been utilized.
- Performs trend analysis of different types of program-related DER data (e.g., battery charge/discharge patterns in connection with levels of Greenhouse Gas emissions on the grid, or wholesale market price signals).
- Benchmarking of existing forecasting or analytics approaches using available data.
- Create customized analytics or visualizations for supporting variety of related technical efforts, and even co-author papers/reports for publication.
Education/Experience/Certifications
- Currently an actively enrolled graduate student (BS or MS recent graduate accepted) in good standing and pursuing a graduate degree, preferably in a field related to internship; GPA of 2.5 or higher preferred.
- Highly proficient in Python coding and statistical analysis principles.
- Proficient in Excel, specifically can utilize Excel formulas to summarize large datasets.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and a history of safe driving practices.

- Some knowledge of electric power systems and distributed energy resources.
- Basic knowledge of database management and SQL for retrieving and effectively analyzing relevant data.
- Experience of working in team setting.
- Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited data exists.

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. This individual will need to be located within 75 miles from job location and will need to work in-the-office at least one day a week. However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:
$16.00 - $36.00
