Department Summary
The Geospatial Operations Department is the heart of PGE’s Geographic Information System (GIS), and is generally responsible for creation, acquisition, maintenance, query and visualization of PGE’s system data. They are the gatekeepers of PGE’s GIS data, representing not only locations of system components but modelling its connectivity as well. The data they manage is also used to make important decisions via visualization and analyses. Data quality and end user experience are the primary drivers toward a complete and accurate GIS to support critical business systems and functions, like OMS, ADMS, and CYME, across the company.
Job Summary
As a GIS Analyst you’ll primarily be responsible of mapping as-builts in ArcMap using ArcFM. In this role you will also support additional work needed for developing process improvements, incremental as-built activities focused on Downtown CORE, additional focus on reducing the GIS as-built backlog, and departmental reporting mechanisms using QuickBase.
Responsibilities
- UPDATE & MAINTAIN DATA & MAPS (80%): Utilize GIS skills and principles to create, revise, maintain, and archive GIS data while adhering to standards and procedures. Read and understand basic work requests, blueprints, CAD drawings, and field sketches to create or make changes to data, maps, and drawings.
- PERFORM QA/QC OF DATA & MAPS (10%): Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of GIS and mapping data to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness and to ensure adherence to mapping standards. This includes operating the GIS to make corrections and additions to the data plus QA/QC of as-built information, map products, and reports and queries generated from the GIS.
- FULFILL SPECIAL REQUESTS (5%): Participate in efforts to produce ad-hoc maps, displays, reports, and queries to meet end-users’ business requirements on request.
- PROVIDE USER SUPPORT (5%): Assist individual users with how to use the GIS and how to understand the information stored by the GIS. Participate in providing consultation, formal and informal training, documentation, and job aids in support of end-users’ understanding and utilization of GIS systems to enable them to effectively plan, design, operate, maintain, and construct the electric system.
Qualifications
Required:
- Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience Two or more years of work experience in GIS or similar discipline.
- Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software (versions 10.6.1/10.8.1).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with ArcGIS Online
- Experience with IQGeo
- Intermediate knowledge of cartographic design principles
- Advanced knowledge of GIS software, data and products
- Working knowledge of business-unit operating processes
- Working knowledge of utility system
- Working knowledge of field-to-office data workflow concepts
- Working knowledge of system interface protocols, web tools and database concepts
- Intermediate skills in customer focus
- Working skills in enterprise/business awareness
- Intermediate skills in analysis and problem solving.
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. This individual must be based within 75 miles of the work location and will be required to work in-the-office at least once a week. However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.
Compensation Range:
$60,975.00 - $121,500.00Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
